Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period that demands a strong ability to adapt to the social environment. Within a community, adolescent girls often face challenges in positioning themselves. Self-efficacy, or an individual's belief in their own capabilities, is considered a driving force in facing these challenges. This study aims to analyze whether self-efficacy has a significant relationship with the social adaptation skills of adolescent girls in a specific community environment. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Fisher’s Exact test. The choice of this test was based on sample characteristics (small sample size or expected frequencies in contingency table cells less than 5). Based on the data analysis, a p-value of 0.223 > 0.05 was obtained, thus H0 is accepted; there is no significant relationship between self-efficacy and the adaptation process of adolescent girls in the Kartini Dormitory. The adaptation process of adolescent girls in this community is likely more influenced by external factors, such as peer support or the openness of the community environment itself, rather than solely internal self-efficacy.
